BC Network of CYACs Provincial Annual Report 2024-25
The BC Network of Child and Youth Advocacy Centres Society is pleased to provide the 4th annual report of CYAC services provided in British Columbia. This report captures feedback from our multidisciplinary teams across the province, in addition to demographic information about the children, youth and families that our centres serve.
Notably, last fiscal year:
- Ten centres participated in data collection
- 1062 interviews of children and youth were conducted at CYACs and 989 children and youth entered into CYAC services
- Majority (66%) of those young clients were female-identifying
- Sexual abuse/assault remained the most common reason for referral to the CYAC
- Alleged offenders were most commonly identified as adult males and the majority of cases involved caregivers of the victimized child
- The positive feedback of multidisciplinary team members increased this year in the areas of effective working relationships within their team, and how the CYAC service model improved the response on cases
- Again this year both caregivers and children reported a positive experience with the CYAC.
Thank you to the multidisciplinary team members for providing data for this report; it is truly their daily work and efforts to bring this model to life that is making all the difference in the lives of children in BC.
