BCCYAC Purpose and Strategic Value Report 2026
BCCYAC is pleased to share a study prepared by MNP LLP that investigated the purpose and strategic value of the BC Network of Child and Youth Advocacy Centres.
“BCCYAC furthers key provincial priorities through the advancement of integrated, trauma‑informed
and culturally safe supports. As such, BCCYAC provides strategic value to children, youth and
families through the strengthening of consistency, coordination, and the overall state of practices
across CYACs. The resulting, predictable, child‑centred responses serve to reduce retraumatization
and improve experiences for children, youth, and families.” p. ii
In addition, the study found that BCCYAC provides strategic value to:
1. Systems of Care by leading provincial and national coordination, collective advocacy, shared learning initiatives
and relationship building among CYACs and system partners, establishing a strong, evidence-based practice
foundation.
2. Individual CYACs by providing leadership, coordination, and peer connection that help CYACs operate more
effectively at the local level.
3. Government and Funders by supporting policy, planning, and investment decisions as well as convening
partners, clarifying roles, and supporting shared learning that strengthens collaboration across sectors.
4. Child Welfare and Justice Services by aligning practices and expectations across CYACs, improving
information‑sharing, and supporting coordinated multidisciplinary responses that lead to more efficient,
predictable processes that reduce duplication of efforts.
